OtakuD50 is an old-school anime fan that prefers to watch series from the 90's. He is a self-proclaimed anime scholar and hentaiologist. He is also an immense Natsume fanboy.

OtakuD50 is currently collecting Gunsmith Cats and demands more Jing: King of Bandits, dammit!

In the .hack Wiki, OtakuD50 has contributed mostly to the .hack//ENEMY cards, the SIGN episode summaries, and, most notably, both of the Wiki's logos. On, he created three .hack ytmnds, none of them involving Natsume (for obvious reasons).

OtakuD50 is currently a member of Aurasuki, which scanlated the .hack//Link manga up to chapter 9 (His "official" job title is "quality control," which involves scanning for typos, tweaking the script, and checking for terminology accuracy... in other words, the easiest least vital part of the operation. Unless you count Jigo, who doesn't do anything. OtakuD50 likes to think of him as the phantom mascot.). Due to overall laziness and the fact that Tokyopop licensed the series, they decided to stop there. They *might* do chapter 10... but you shouldn't count on them getting it done before Tokyopop releases it. Yes, it could take a year for that to happen. They're that slow.

Is currently working on .hack//Proximity, a visual novel retelling of the .hack games, with help from the rest of Aurasuki. Nothing will stop him from completing this game, except death, injury, or a cease-and-desist. Considering Bandai no longer cares enough, he thinks a cease-and-desist would be the greatest flattery possible.

Name Origin

"OtakuD50" is split in three ways. Otaku, meaning anime fan; D, standing for Dugtrio, a Pokemon specie, and 50, standing for the original Pokedex number of Diglett.

In the beginning, he was known as Dugtrio50 when he created a mediocre Pokemon fansite. The site had a decent walkthru, clips stolen from UPNetwork, and a DBZ vs. Pokemon fanfic. By gawd did it suck.

After the site was attacked by some crazed hacker, Dugtrio50 moved on and changed his name to D50 and took residence in a Tenchi forum. His obvious n00bishness did not go over well and within three months he had left the forum for good.

Soon, D50 would make another website, [D50's Anime Hideout]. This was a better site specializing in anime reviews. Some time later, D50 joined the GameFAQs message board community under the name OtakuD50. There, he found a new home with the Lunar 2 board community.

As OtakuD50 gained experience from watching scores of anime, he began to become more and more aware of how foolish he was before. The fact that he couldn't find anyone to help him with the site forced him to create two "partners," YamiD50 and HikariD50 to do reviews with him. His new take on anime reviews, the "schizophrenic review," would not last long. When FortuneCity refused to support the TrellixWeb editor that D50 used, he was unable to continue updating the site.

At around the same time, the Lunar boards collapsed and OtakuD50 once again was out of a home. He hung around Board 8 while also helping newbies with Disgaea, .hack, Xenosaga, and whatever he happened to be playing at the time. At around July or August of 2005, OtakuD50 would spend some time at the .hack//GU and .hack//Fragment boards, where he would join the n00b Player Killers, or NPK. He wrote a fanfic based on the idea called Chronicles of the NPK. This fic would eventually lead to his position as moderator on HoL as well as the creation of the persona Redline.

OtakuD50 joined Aurasuki on the .hack//Link project from the very beginning. They've been at it for two years and they don't even have two full volumes translated yet. Maybe some day they will. But if not, their work is done and Otaku will again be out of a (pointless, non-paying) job. He plans to move on and work on his fiction projects at a [certain hideout].

OtakuD50 appears to have some sort of infatuation with shy, bookworm girls, especially those with glasses. This may explain why among his favorite characters are Natsume, Nodoka Miyazaki, Megumi Kurogane, Ri Kohran, Taeko Minazuki, and that girl from the first episode of Boogiepop Phantom. He also has a thing for green-haired girls. It is rare for OtakuD50 to encounter a green-haired girl he didn't like.

OtakuD50 dislikes large breasts. A general rule is that breasts that are more than 3/4 the size of the girl's head are repellant.

Natsume fanboyism

  • On two occasions he has given Natsume over 1 million GP in gifts. It would be more if his first save file hadn't been erased.
  • Has successfully raised Natsume up to Lv99 thrice.
  • Has completed Mia's dungeon with Natsume as the third party member twice.
  • Has done both Natsume dungeons solo twice.
  • Has ALWAYS chosen Natsume as his partner unless the game doesn't allow it.
  • Created a .hack//ENEMY deck specifically to bring out Natsume's full power.
  • Owns all three Natsume ENEMY cards - Natsume, Natsume 2.0, and Mailer.
  • Has raised Natsume's P-Atk stat in .hack//G.U. up to 999. Seriously, just take a look at his Youtube channel.

  • Natsume has been in OtakuD50's signature for well over two years.
  • Is solely responsible for getting Natsume into two user contests on Board 8 in 2005

Rare Hunter

OtakuD50 hunts rare anime, manga, video games, and occasionally cards.

As a Yu-Gi-Oh! duelist, he used to collect rare cards. He now only collects rare cards with pictures of cute girls on the front.

The rarest manga that OtakuD50 owns is Vampire Princess Miyu 1-4.

The rarest anime that OtakuD50 owns is probably The Girl From Phantasia, one of ADV's first releases. He hopes to one day find a copy of End of Summer.

The rarest video game that OtakuD50 owns is probably either The Last Blade 2 or Alundra. He STILL hasn't beaten Alundra.

OtakuD50 has completed two of his life's goals:

  • Watch 200 anime before graduating High School
  • Own at least one anime for each letter of the alphabet

His other life goals are:

  • Get married and have a daughter named Linna
  • Create a self-styled martial art that employs the use of tonfa
  • Find that copy of End of Summer
  • Find, own, and play the following games:
    • Sky Gunner
    • Thousand Arms
    • Tales of Destiny
    • Tales of Destiny 2 (Eternia)
  • Finish Phantom Seal, an RPG he's been writing in his head for years
  • Take revenge upon d5t somehow
  • Witness a Wrestlemania main event live
  • Wake you up before you go-go and leave you standing there like a yo-yo

OtakuD50 has created a sword drawing technique to counter attackers from the rear in which the sheath is used to strike the attacker's jaw, followed immediately by a stab to the gut. It's probably completely impractical in battle. Moot point considering it's illegal, anyway.

OtakuD50 has come close to killing himself on multiple occasions in the past, yet still does not have a myspace facebook twitter account. The universe hasn't imploded yet.

The first anime OtakuD50 watched was Voltron. The first "real" one he watched was Please Save my Earth. The first manga OtakuD50 owned was Ranma 1/2 vol. 18. The first anime he bought was Tenchi the Movie. The first non-anime purchase he made in years was Clerks the cartoon for the VHS because he found it in a bargain bin while looking for anime.

OtakuD50 wears his Lucia's Pendant whenever he goes out, making it rather easy to spot him if you ever happen to be in the Solano county area. Or Reno.

OtakuD50 is atheist, yet has had several dreams in which he is sent to save Jesus Christ. And failed. Royally.

OtakuD50 works in a constant state of sleep deprivation. This has, with equal weight, both allowed him to have amazing flashes of insight / inspiration, and make careless, idiotic lapses in judgment.
