Kestrel (ケストレル) is the largest of the guilds in The World R:2. The guild has over 5,000 members and contains many PKs because the guildmaster, Gabi, believes "that's just another part of 'The World'." Kuhn used to be Vice Guildmaster of Kestrel, before leaving and founding Canard.

Kestrel has an entire field for their @Home, located at Δ Sneering Failing Empire. The Guildmaster, Gabi, has the ability to create monsters and turn the entire field into a training zone. It looks like a huge temple derived from Greco-Roman origins.

.hack//G.U. Games[]

During the G.U. games, Haseo and Kuhn visit Kestrel to make Gabi stop the PKers that are bothering Silabus and Gaspard. With the appearance of Bordeaux, who seeks to justify her PKing, Gabi intervenes and issues the affair to be fairly settled in the Arena at Lumina Cloth between Haseo's party and Bordeaux's.

Though the guild promotes PKing, Kestrel is very laissez-faire, not finding issue with PKing or PKKing, finding both integral to the gameplay and social activity of The World R:2, and has no prominent backing to any of its members other than a loose association which PKers can affiliate with. Even then, members of the guild are also seen as fair game between even each other, and divisions within Kestrel are prominent, each having a different view of what Kestrel should be promoting as a major World guild. Thus, they can be seen as the diametric opposite of Moon Tree, being rather anarchic and disheveled as The World's "criminal underworld" or "assassin's association" where "might makes right".

Although Kestrel's emblem sports a picture of a lion (and coincidentally, Gabi's character itself), kestrel is actually a type of falcon.
