The Immortal Dusk refers to an incident that took place during 2020, where the actions of Geist, who was using premade plans from ex engineer Jyotarou Amagi and secretly Mama, cause a fourth network crisis through the corruption the goddess of The World, Aura, that was introduced via the use of a virus attached to a Doubleware as well as the disruption of the Akashic Records and forcefully Real Digitalize users of The World, as well as various owners of different digital technology throughout the world.

Precedents[]
After hearing of the German programmer, Harald Hoerwick, the terrorist organization "mama" plotted to get close to him in order to create a solution for the current world´s environmental problems. To accomplish this, they used Erna Uhlenhuth, also known as Emma Wielant, who approached him. Harald fell for Emma, but she was already married. Even so, they remained close friends until her alleged death. This would prompt Harald to create the ultimate A.I., Aura. Mama would try through the years to grab a hold of Aura, but never succeeded.
The G.U. Project[]
After Aura decided to disappear for The World, all kind of net problems started to occur. So, as to fix this, CC Corp started the G.U. Project with genius engineer and programmers Jun Bansyoya and Jyotaro Amagi kickstarting the "R.A. Plan" to obtain the Eight Epitaphs. Amagi had severe trauma from losing his aunt, Ayaka Amagi, at a young age. Believing that perfection lies with everlasting life, he steered the project towards his own goals of Real Digitalization, which aligned with the goals of "mama". By creating a game called "Akashic Line", Amagi compiled a list of peopled he called "Doublewares", and used them to advance his research. One of these beta testers was Tokio Kuryu.
The Fire at CC Corp[]
Jun decided that the risk Jyotaro was taking was too high, and so, secretly, he stole the Epitaph of Tarvos. Jyotaro decided to go ahead anyway using a dummy Epitaph, but this resulted in an immediate crash that deleted 80% of The World´s data and put the users of the other Epitaphs on a coma. After this, Jyotaro lost his mind and caused a fire, destroying a third of the main CC Corp building and leaving several injured. In the wake of his actions, Amagi fled into the game via Real Digitalization, leaving Banyoya to take responsibility.
Inmortal Dusk[]
By 2020, Jyotaro had lost his mind due to Outer Dependence Syndrome caused by all those years of being Real Digitized. In his stead, Geist, an A.I. double of him, followed through with his plans by sending a mail to his cousin, Saika, indicating her to give the black disc to Tokio Kuryu in order to use him as a virus to gain control of Aura.
Geist infiltrated the hacker group Schicksal to keep tabs on the events, but after most of the members were defeated, the truth came to light and he was confronted by Tokio, Cello and Flugel. Jyotaro, who was close to him limit, became a monster and eat Geist, disappearing in the process. By then, it was already too late, and the egg that contained Aura hatched, birthing the Goddess of Demise, absorbing all The World users and nearby people into the game.
