.hack//G.U. GAME MUSIC O.S.T. is the first of the two .hack//G.U. Game OSTs. Composed and arranged by Chikayo Fukuda of the original .hack games' soundtracks, the soundtrack follows a similar style to the original games. This can be seen in returning vocalist Tomoyo Mitani, who performs in several songs on this O.S.T., including the series theme song "Yasashii Ryoute". Both Japanese and English versions of the song are used in the series. She is sometimes accompanied by the male tenor Yasutaka Anzai. The soundtrack features a majority of the tracks featured in Vol.1 of .hack//G.U. and, unlike the original game soundtrack, is not a soundtrack for all four games. There are three discs included: a background music CD, a drama CD, and a bonus CD.
Similar in approach to the original game soundtrack, the first CD consists mostly of music during active gameplay. The second disc is a drama CD, consisting of music featured during cutscenes. The third disc includes a desktop theme song to replicate the .hack experience on a computer, and two trailers from the Tokyo Game Show, plus various sound effects.
Disc 3 contains the first episode of Online Jack, the Tokyo Game Show Trailer, the Tokyo Anime Fair Trailer and a Desktop and Sound Theme for your personal PC. Disc 3 is/was only availale in a Limited Edition set. Currently out of print/NLA. Discs 1 and 2 still available as a set.
At the end of my pursuit for the wings of twilight, I arrived at a city. All the people carry two masks, and while they are used for different reasons depending on the company they keep, they are never able to show their bare face to each other.
After the time of twilight has passed, the truth becomes clear. Everything has two masks, and while we can differentiate light from darkness, we can never distinguish between good and evil.
What is my wish? What is your wish?
If you do wish for my death, I shall wish to be hindrance to you.
Note: While there isn't a song present in either the soundtrack or the game with this title, these lyrics are printed in the booklet and its vocals credited to Tomoyo Mitani and Yasutaka Anzai. This is a Japanese translation of some of the songs that have their choruses in a language unique to the game.

Drawn in by an unseen cold hand,
I pass even time as it flows to eternity.
As your eyes look away into the hazy distance,
what is revealed to them, I cannot see.
As the moonlight shines on my bitter cold fingers.
Frozen tears of mine begin to flow anew.
I look at the sky. That distant far off dream,
it always has me in its view.
Unafraid, I reach my hand into the darkness.
I am at the point of no return.
If I truly realize the person I am,
hidden away inside my deepest memories.
I still want to believe that you will return to me.
Until you are with me, together in this place.
I still want to feel until the end of time.
The gentle loving touch of your hands on my face.
Trapped inside this cage made of glass,
hurt feelings held captive in the cold and icy night.
From far beyond the infinite dark.
There must always be a ray of light.
I know that your eternal shining light
will embrace me in the warmth of infinity.
While trying to run from the pain of reality,
I'm losing sight of what is so important to me.
I still want to believe that you will return to me.
Until you are with me, together in this place.
I still want to feel until the end of time.
The gentle loving touch of your hands on my face.
Drawn in by an unseen cold hand,
I pass even time as it flows to eternity.
As your eyes look away into the hazy distance,
what is revealed to them, I cannot see.
What is revealed to them, I cannot see.

Die verfluchte Welle[5] ist gemeinsam zu bekämpfen.
Yet to return, the shadowed one
who quests for the Twilight Dragon
Rumbles the dark harth.
And Helba, Queen of the Dark, has finally raised her army.
Apeiron, King of Light, beckons. At the base the rainbow do they meet
Against the abominable Wave, together they fight.
Notes:
↑ 1.01.1"von" is the wrong preposition here, correct would be a form of an article (definite or indefinite). In this case it would be "Königin der Schatten" and "König des Lichts" (both, as well as "von", would be translated as "of")
↑In the song, the word "Schatten" (shadows) is pronounced badly as "Scha..."
↑In the song, "Licht" ("light") is pronounced "Lucht"
↑"bewinken" actually is very old and mostly unused German for beckoning in order to acknowledge an action.
↑In the song, the "e" of the word "verfluchte" (cursed) and the word "Welle" (wave) is swallowed, making it pronounced as "verflucht Well"; the word "verflucht" is pronounced as "verflücht"
