<HR>
Hello, I haven't played any .hack video game. But I very like the piano music from Tomoyo Mitani. When I did research on her (on Google), I found an engineer who has the same name. Do you think it is the same person ? :) Is Tomoyo Mitani the composer, the pianist and the singer ? Thanks by advance :-) Jill-Jênn 07:56, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

GU Games
  +
Note:
All right, so I noticed we're breaking down some of the GU Characters' roles in the GU Games by each game, while in the Games, we just describe all four video games in one section. Do you think we should merge the Rebirth and A Voice of You sections into one big section called .hack//GU Games like the Games characters. This is the Community Portal discussion area. We use this area to discuss the format of the current Community Portal and to add things for the .hack//Wiki community to work on.

  +
*If you have a problem with or question about something in a specific article, please use that article's discussion page.
:Yes, it would be a lot more symmetrical. Because if we didn't do that now, I'd feel like we'd have to go back and put the previous games into their individual sections. Amaethon 00:30, 7 September 2006. (UTC)

  +
*If you want to ask a specific contributor a question, use that contributor's discussion page (not their actual personal article page, their discussion page).
  +
*If you want to address something that relates to multiple pages, such as a certain series or all character or monster pages, the best place to ask is the Ask Piros! BBS.
  +
*If you want help regarding progress in a game or anything of that nature, try asking in a gaming forum like GameFAQs; leave it off this Wiki. .hack//Wiki is not a strategy guide.
  +
**Alternatively, you can ask in the Chaos Gate BBS
  +
*If you want to suggest an addition to the function or features of this Wiki as a whole, you may use the discussion page of the main .hack//Wiki page or the Ask Piros! BBS. Either place as of this moment works.
  +
*If you are having problems finding certain information on this Wiki, either you haven't been looking hard enough, or no one has added that information to the Wiki yet. Try to request for the information at the Requests, and a crack team of Chim Chims will determine whether or not we have that information. If we do, someone will direct you to it. If not, your request will be noted and someone may or may not get around to making the necessary article or adding the information. Or you could take the initiative and create the article / add the information yourself. We don't mind if you skip any steps, just as long as the information is verifiable and TRUE.
  +
*If you just want to address the Wiki as a whole with an interesting tidbit of .hack information, or if you want to verify a rumor... Take it to the Chaos Gate BBS or the News Capture BBS

:No, I don't think I see any reason not to do that, aside from the short novel that Haseo's page will turn into... ==Community Portal design / format==
English version takes precedence over Japanese version
  +
The Community Portal is currently a work in progress. If you've got some feedback on the new design, take it over to its Net Slum topic.--OtakuD50 06:06, March 12, 2010 (UTC)
That's how it's going to be. No matter how much you may like the current translations for certain names, if they're changed in the final official English release, we have to make the same changes here. That's why Silver Knight's official name on the Wiki isn't Ginkan, and dammit, if Pai's name is changed officially to Pi, we're going to have to make a lot of changes in the GU pages. Keep that in mind, y'all.--OtakuD50 00:01, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Community Portal
:I knew this day would come. We'll have to change names in a lot of places, but it's actually kinda cool that we'll end up with a pretty decent G.U. section, using official terminology, before the first game even comes out. In my mind the uncertainty about terminology is the reason almost every single G.U. article has a cleanup tag (and the ones that don't use confirmed terminology). - Kuukai2 00:37, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Project Unsung Heroes
  +
Gentlemen, I shall embark on a project the likes of which have never tested my sanity since the Enemy cards. I shall list every single user from the BBS in IMOQ and the various forums in G.U. Not as separate articles, of course... it'll be more like the Minor PCs article... only much, much larger. However, there are some users (especially in G.U.) that I feel are important enough to warrant their own article. Off the top of my head, they include Miyako (1/2), Syake, Train Dog, ω Rice, Henako, and Blue Eye Samurai. Though of course I'd like to have your feedback on it. I won't start this until I've tied up some loose ends / unfinished business around the Wiki, so let me know now if there's anything unattended to that I can do, which I might have expertise in (like tables... if you need me to work on tables, say so now while it's still fresh in my head).--OtakuD50 10:08, March 17, 2010 (UTC)

Quest Enemy
::If only there were a find and replace feature. Anyways, yes, we're gonna have to change it. Though, don't move the Pai page yet. I'll do it myself when the time comes. I'd like to keep it here for as long as we can. </Nostalgia> Kulaguy 00:44, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

  +
Right. I've noticed all the monster pages are on an endless cleanup. To fix that I recommend combining them with the enemy pages. It saves space IE: two pages a monster we currently have vs. one page. All anyone would need is a custom info box. So any disagreements, support etc.? Outlaw630 04:51, June 18, 2010 (UTC)
  +
:I'm against this. There are over a hundred monster pages already, it's inconsistent with the way we treat other ENEMY pages, it's inconsistent with the way we treat R:2 and R:X monsters, and it does nothing to actually solve the cleanup issue that supposedly brought this up--just merging pages won't add the missing information, all it does it put all the ENEMY pages on cleanup. If you want to improve the monster pages it shouldn't be so hard, just look the required information up online or in the strategy guide. Swordmanoid is an example of a complete monster article. Speaking of the template though, is the "Protect Break" part that was added to it legit? I thought you could break a monster with everything... - Kuukai2 06:20, June 18, 2010 (UTC)
  +
::The Protect Break section is there because it's in the Ryu Book, I believe.--OtakuD50 21:28, June 18, 2010 (UTC
  +
::Gonna argue that. It isn't because they aren't good points but I'd rather see 100 single articles on cleanup than 150 Monsters + Enemy. Another note that bothers me but since I'm the one planning to work on them I have no intention of cropping every enemy card just for a suitable image to finish the article. List wise combination makes it feel like less. You could say why not solely use the enemy's image. It's not much but I'm against using that in two places. There's less sting on single page. In the end you are right, it doesn't seem to be much work, however these were just some worries I had while wondering about what to do. Sucks to bite my tongue but this will be my only argument and I'll act on what the majority decides. Outlaw630 23:43, June 18, 2010 (UTC)
  +
:::There are no ENEMY articles on cleanup. I made damn sure of that. Someone just needs to put the time in to fix the monster articles. Also, merging the articles would, IMO, end up being more trouble than it's worth. Not that that by itself is a reason not to merge, but I see no reason why the work can't be put in to fix the monster articles without doing something so extreme.--OtakuD50 04:55, June 19, 2010 (UTC)

References
Dammit, whoever keeps changing pages to reflect English version changes as trivia better stop. Once it's 100% confirmed that the name changes are final, WE WILL CHANGE THE ARTICLE NAME AND ALL REFERENCES TO REFLECT THE CHANGES. English version names take precedence over Japanese version ones!--OtakuD50 16:54, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Still working on those articles. Anyway I was browsing another wiki today when I noticed their use of reference tags. They were usually located at the bottom in a scroll list. Anyway the point is, I know we have the coding should references tags become a standard for the wiki. I'm not saying for every little detail but maybe for the points people might not generally know or disagree upon? Discuss* zips-lip Outlaw630 05:37, June 28, 2010 (UTC)
  +
:Well, I've always liked the way wikis like Memory Alpha note the series/episode that information comes from (in a better way than just using the wiki citation system), but never wanted to do it since it would be a lot of work to rewrite the whole wiki. But as far as references go, we actually *do* use them in some places. It just needs to be something that really warrants it, like something only stated in an interview or some such. - Kuukai2 06:49, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

This hit me like a bomb. But what do we with all the F-Skits? There are an awful lot of them, does the wiki plan on recording them or are should we only mention a list? I know we're not an FAQ so... Outlaw630 20:13, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

:I don't think this wiki is a video/text dump for the entire game. Really, if something is worth noting in an article, note it. For the most part they really aren't, though... We can make a list, and I guess someday they could be summarized, but that would be kinda like documenting every single in-game text bubble.... - Kuukai2 01:48, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

:Okay, I find these new names for the Lost Grounds just plain stupid. Even if it is in the English version, it doesn't make it right. I mean, Alf is a boy in the English version but we don't use it. I believe blatantly changing the name of an area that ALREADY HAD A NAME BEFORE GU (See Grima Ray), then it shouldn't be changed in here. I mean, the current name is so far off from the original that it's stupid. I'm fine changing the Phase names since they are more or less the same but changing Grima Ray to Hulle Granz or whatever the hell it is is stupid. Kulaguy 23:19, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

:Looks like we found the gray area. >_> But when was the name EVER referred to as Grima Ray? I never even heard of it until all this new GU info came in. ::They say it in the game and possibly Roots. Haseo says it near the very beginning of the game with so much rage in his voice, it's almost comical. Also, I posted my theories on why and how this was done as fact since I'll be damned if you can find a better theory than mine, and it just makes so much sense. The Alvissmal is a really nice Rosetta Stone of obscure terms, I can see why the .hack people would love it. I'm not the Celtic go-to guy, but when it comes to Vikings, I've actually taken a class where we read this thing... In some ways I'm thankful for the change, since the German words were a dead giveaway of where to find out how to spell the original words, and we have an almost definite transliteration now. (Airdi and Eldi sound exactly the same in Japanese, and Airdi and Lugh are both Celtic words, while Eldi isn;t. What was I supposed to think?) - Kuukai2 07:46, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

I say we need to be consistent in the Wiki, so we should settle this now. Isumi, Izumi, or Idumi?--OtakuD50 21:16, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

:Isumi is outright wrong. Her name is Idumi by the official Japanese Romanization system the schools and government use. It's Izumi by the commonly used system in America. However, it sounds more like "Idzumi"... - Kuukai2 00:07, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

::Personally, I say we use Idumi. I heard she requested it to be romanized as that so we might as well use it. Kulaguy 00:44, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

::I only said Isumi because that's how it's spelled in the .hack games. If it's 100% true that she wishes her name to be romanized Idumi, we'll go with that. But I guess on works before AI Buster 2 where she's credited as Rei Izumi, should we just say Idumi or add a (credited as Rei Izumi) to the end?--OtakuD50 18:41, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

:::That looks like a "z" to me. Speaking of which, if she wants it to be spelled with a d, why the hell does she write it with a z? I really don't know what we should do, she spells her own name like two different ways in both languages... - Kuukai2 23:03, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

::::::Idumi is the one she requested that Tokyopop use, one of their translators was talking about it on their forums. So I'd say we should use that name on the wiki. --CRtwenty 22:20, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

::::::Okay, there's a big disagreement about this in the transliteration world... the problem is that two characters, ず and づ are both pretty much pronounced "zu"... however, the first is a derivative of "su" and the second of "tsu"... I myself think it sounds more like "dzu"... but nobody agrees with me on that. Generally, people use whichever they feel like. I like "zu" better, if you're going to pick between the two, because it better represents the sounds: it *isn't* pronounced "du". So far, I've always seen her name romanized as "Rei Izumi"... so I think that's what we should stick with. --Rintaun 01:57, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

::::::Except for the fact that Rei herself requested that her name be romanized as "Idumi". So that's the correct spelling. --CRtwenty 01:38, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

:::::::But she signs with a z! That's clearly the correct spelling! I don't think we're going to get anywhere if we use logic... *sigh* - Kuukai2 01:47, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

First appearances
Okay, well, you know how each character has a First Appearance row? That is supposed to say the First Appearance through our timeline, not the .hack timeline. So an example would be Orca's. He may have first appeared in AI Buster in the .hack timeline but in our timeline, he first appeared in Infection. For some of the GU characters, they first appear in Resurrection not Roots. Just needed to clear that little detail up. Kulaguy 22:03, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

:Umm... The first like 6 episodes of Roots came out before Rebirth. If a character was introduced then, then is it Roots or Rebirth? - Kuukai2 23:33, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

::Ah, but the Chainsaw Girl was shown in the trailers of Rebirth before Roots came out, so her first appearance is Rebirth. Kulaguy 23:35, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

:::Ok, I get your logic. - Kuukai2 23:36, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

::::Eh, if that one doesn't make you feel right, then think of it like this: The category is "First Appearance". I have not seen Roots, but you said she was in there as "Voice Only". That's not really an appearance. Kulaguy 23:40, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Character pages
A great deal of character pages are still left incomplete. It's been my observation that those who care more for a certain character tend to do a better job on that character's page. If you can, do work on favorite character ^_^--OtakuD50 00:45, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

:HA! It's like you're talking to yourself. Well, what I do, is just click on Random Page and edit whatever I land in. Lately, I haven't had much inspiration to work on the Wiki. Blame KH2. Might edit more later on. Kulaguy 01:24, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

::Everyone needs to blame KH2. And Xigbar, because he is stupid. And goes, "Hey, let's shoot Sora so much that he can't move, therefore stopping him from seeing Kairi, who is totally kicking Heartless butt!" Or maybe it's just me. ==Company pages==

This is the area we seem to fall short the most. Aside from the standard plea for HELP, I can't say much else. What should we put on these sections?--OtakuD50 00:45, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

:This is what I was asking at HoL but nobody knew what to add. So we'll just have to wait for more people to arrive and look at this. Kulaguy 01:24, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

Various updates
Yeah this is Forte V4. I'm bored so I made a short summary of .hack//GnU. I'll read it again to get the info on the characters and such. Also, take note that I don't know much about the various...whatevers of Wikipedia, so notify me if I'm off. I also added Yukino to the list of employees. I also wrote the article about Intermezzo. That and I wanted my name in this :D

This is a new member, PKK no Haseo-san, I was on GFAQS for a brief time, under a different username. I added a bunch to the Hotaru page and the Fragment page, added a bit to Piros, telling about how he re-appears in GU as Piroshi Ver. 3, added to Skeith, Atoli, Haseo, and Magus, and added an Avatar Skeith, AIDA-PC, and Infinity Eight article. The AIDA-PC article has cool info from the latest G.U.: The World magazine. 13 April 2006

:Above poster, please use your name when you post. Don't ask why. I made the page on The Wave today. Well, I received a rather inspired Wiki message today. It reads as follows.

::Yukino is already on the character list where u put it. She has her last name too. and u call me a noob on gamefaqs

:I'd like to point out that I didn't write her bio, I just stuck her on the character list of employees, since I last time I checked, she works for CC Corp. And based by this latest incarnation of Digital Jesus © speaking to such a lowly intellect as mine, I would kindly like to ask linkdarkside to stop being such an attention whore/Jack Thompson/Ozzy Ozbourne. We know you're mentally challenged and we're rooting for you, buddy. Forte V4 14 April 2006

Quotes
I was thinking we should have quotes for each page, not just Character pages. Maybe not all pages like the List of NPCs in the Games or some of the terminology but most of it. Kulaguy 01:05, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

:You're working on the script, right? When you get there, I think there's a quote by Mia for Aromatic Grass. Something along the lines of "just because it's useless doesn't mean it doesn't have meaning" or something like that. We could use that for the Aromatic Grass page.--OtakuD50 02:21, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

::I JUST got done with Kite getting the Bracelet. Very slow progress because I cannot pause during the cutscene and I have to reload my other data to rewatch the scene until I got it down, which can get very annoying and time consuming. I'm not sure how long till I get to meeting Mia. Kulaguy 03:07, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

:::I recently reviewed a few pages and noticed character pages lacking quotes. Leave those to me for the time being. I'm going to add quotes to as many as possible later today. I need to do some real work from time to time, y'know?--OtakuD50 18:23, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

PvP
In the PK article, it says PvP was just added in Udeden. Hasn't it always been there? Like how Balmung was challenging Kite to a PvP battle in Infection? Kulaguy 20:40, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

Continuity errors occasionally pop up, y'know? Anyway, I remember reading in the Legend of the Twilight manga that PVP was a new feature so characters could battle without it being PKing. But I'm only going by memory here, so I'll make sure to doublecheck it later.--OtakuD50 15:31, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

I believe that what happened was once the Knights disbanded, PKing escalated so much and got so out of control that CCcorp was forced to disable it. It was re-added in in a later update. Don't quote me if I'm wrong, but I think this is it. --PKKnoHaseo-san

Postings for tasks that require a specialized area or media of expertise. May require heavy research to fill out tables.

 • Anyone that has more information on the Epitaph of Twilight novels, your expertise is needed for its article.
 • CELL is out now. Readers, tell us what you've learned!
 • G.U. Novels, too!
 • And 4koma!!
 • The Armor article has been a terrible mess for years.
 • Someone take a look at the R:1 Weaponlist template.
 • The list of Rare Items in the R:2 section needs to be filled out.

Discussion

Note: This is the Community Portal discussion area. We use this area to discuss the format of the current Community Portal and to add things for the .hack//Wiki community to work on.

 • If you have a problem with or question about something in a specific article, please use that article's discussion page.
 • If you want to ask a specific contributor a question, use that contributor's discussion page (not their actual personal article page, their discussion page).
 • If you want to address something that relates to multiple pages, such as a certain series or all character or monster pages, the best place to ask is the Ask Piros! BBS.
 • If you want help regarding progress in a game or anything of that nature, try asking in a gaming forum like GameFAQs; leave it off this Wiki. .hack//Wiki is not a strategy guide.
 • If you want to suggest an addition to the function or features of this Wiki as a whole, you may use the discussion page of the main .hack//Wiki page or the Ask Piros! BBS. Either place as of this moment works.
 • If you are having problems finding certain information on this Wiki, either you haven't been looking hard enough, or no one has added that information to the Wiki yet.
 • If you just want to address the Wiki as a whole with an interesting tidbit of .hack information, or if you want to verify a rumor... Take it to the Chaos Gate BBS or the News Capture BBS

Community Portal design / format

The Community Portal is currently a work in progress. If you've got some feedback on the new design, take it over to its Net Slum topic.--OtakuD50 06:06, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

I've noticed that an ad can really mess up the table. This is easily taken care of by being logged in and unchecking the "Show all advertisements" box in your Preferences>Skin page, or simply by using Monobook.--OtakuD50 06:06, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

Project Unsung Heroes

Quest Enemy

I'm against this.
The Protect Break section is there because it's in the Ryu Book, I believe.--OtakuD50 21:28, June 18, 2010 (UTC
Gonna argue that.
There are no ENEMY articles on cleanup.

References

Still working on those articles. Anyway I was browsing another wiki today when I noticed their use of reference tags. They were usually located at the bottom in a scroll list. Anyway the point is, I know we have the coding should references tags become a standard for the wiki. I'm not saying for every little detail but maybe for the points people might not generally know or disagree upon? Discuss* zips-lip Outlaw630 05:37, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

Well, I've always liked the way wikis like Memory Alpha note the series/episode that information comes from (in a better way than just using the wiki citation system), but never wanted to do it since it would be a lot of work to rewrite the whole wiki. But as far as references go, we actually *do* use them in some places. It just needs to be something that really warrants it, like something only stated in an interview or some such. - Kuukai2 06:49, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

F-Skits

This hit me like a bomb. But what do we with all the F-Skits? There are an awful lot of them, does the wiki plan on recording them or are should we only mention a list? I know we're not an FAQ so... Outlaw630 20:13, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

I don't think this wiki is a video/text dump for the entire game. Really, if something is worth noting in an article, note it. For the most part they really aren't, though... We can make a list, and I guess someday they could be summarized, but that would be kinda like documenting every single in-game text bubble.... - Kuukai2 01:48, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

Other Discussion

If you've got a question that you don't think fits in any of the BBS forums, go ahead and say what you have to say right here.--OtakuD50 05:56, March 12, 2010 (UTC)
